My life in the Recent Past and Winter Guard!!!! (yay)
Hey peeps! Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while (a WHILE?!?!?!?!?!?!?), I’ve been REALLY busy with school and stuff. We had finals last week, which wasn’t too bad, especially considering I got to come home at 10:15 a.m. one day, because I had exempted one and it was an early-release day. And since that was Thursday, all of my old friends from co-op/park day were going to the park (even though it was raining), and so I got to go to Park Day for the WHOLE time, not just the last 15 minutes! So that was fun.
But then on Friday, even though it was an early release again, and I could’ve gone home at the same time as before, I had to stay for a winter guard rehearsal from 1:00-10:00 p.m.!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!! It wasn’t toooooo bad, though, because we rolled out our floor (a HUGE tarp-like thingy that we dance on for our show) and stretched until 2:00. Then we rehearsed until about 4:20, then we had an hour break to eat dinner (pizza!). After that, we learned the drill for the rest of our show and some choreography until 7:30, and then we started painting our floor. Up until now, it has been completely white, with just some black tape marks in some places that help us figure out where we are supposed to be, but it was mostly just white. But on Friday, we painted it a really pretty blue with a big white circle in the middle that we are later going to paint yellow. The reason for this design is because the theme of our show is happy, cheerful, kind of thing. I mean, the song is called *Merry Happy*, which is also what our whole show is called, so it all ties together. And we have these cool props that we are going to use which are going to be kind of like stop signs, I guess, except they will be shorter and the top will be round instead of a hexagon. They will be painted yellow, I think, with different emoticons painted on the front. Then, at the end of the show, we are going to turn them around and they will be all happy faces!
But I think that the most important part of our show is the equipment that we use. We each have a big flag, which will be yellow with some pink stripes going criss-cross on it. And then 4 out of the 7 of us will be on the rifle line, which I am on, (yay!) and I love it. An then about 2 thirds into the show, we pick up these swing flags, which have shorter poles, but the silks are longer. We only use one hand for these, so after we do a little bit with just one, we pick up two, one in each hand.So altogether, the most any one has is four pieces of equipment which is PLENTY. Being the random person that I am, I like to name my equipment (don’t judge me). I named my big flag Annabeth, my rifle Phillipe, and my swing flags Percy and Sophia. And I have to come up with a name for my flag bag, but i’m not sure what I’m going to do at the moment. Any suggestions?
Part of the reason that we are rehearsing soooooo hard and that I am sooooo excited about winter guard is because our first show is THIS Saturday!!!!!! I Have butterflies in the my stomach already, which is NOT good, considering I have about 4 full days until then. I can only imagine how bad they will be by then, if they keep progressing at this rate!!!! I’m really excited, though. i’ll post a video of our show soon………….. So overall, my life is going pretty good, i guess. I’m kind of stressed out with all of the different things I have going on (cough, GUARD, cough), but nothing too serious. I’m going to TRY to post more regularly, I think i’m actually getting the hang of what blogging is actually about! (yay for me……FINALLY………). So visit back often and hopefully i’ll keep you entertained (but you never know). Bye for now!
I just realized the great amount of parenthesis that I used in this post. (sorry).
