The Moon

Here is a little something that I wrote at our block party on September 12, at about 9:00 at night. The approaching hurricane had brought a lot of clouds to our Leander sky. I was instantly inspired, and just had to put my thoughts on paper.Enjoy! The moon glowed illuminating the night sky. Clouds moved in an attempt to muffle the light, to no avail. The moon shines through the clouds enchanting all who happen to glance up at its smiling face. The few stars that are showing through the clouds finish off the nocturnal splendor. I lean against my windowsill, and think about the mountains, oceans, and all of God’s amazing creations. |

The Olympics

Every two years, people from all over the world come together and communicate, per say, in one language that everyone, no matter what country they are from, language they speak, or color their skin is understands. That language is sports. I am talking about the Olympics. The Olympics are so cool because it doesn’t matter who they are; everybody has a fair chance at the gold. I have been keeping track of all of our athletes that have competed, and I think that my favorites are: The Misty May and Keri Walsh beach volleyball team, swimmer Michael Phelps, and gymnast Sean Johnson. |

Alice

Friends, Alice is a computer game that teaches you how to program while creating a very low-tech animated video. You can download it from www.alice.org At the website, you can find a couple of videos that tell you what you can do with Alice. I am currently working on a Cinderella re-enactment type thing, using objects that you can import onto your ” World” at the touch of a button. This takes about twenty minutes to download, but it’s ABSOLUTELY free! It is a GREAT way to introduce yourself to programming. There are also a few tutoriols that you can watch once you download Alice. I hope that you get as interested in it as I have! |

Prince Caspian Review

Hey guys, I recently went to see Prince Caspian, and well, I have mixed feelings about it…………. 1. There’s a lot of fighting. Period. LOT of fighting. Like maybe a teensy, weensy chance that it’s too much fighting. Actually more than that!!!!!!!!!!! I like fighting ok, but it went a little bit overboard. 2. In the final battle, the trees come and help. In the book, however, they are REAL people, that just look like trees in stature and hair, and stuff like that. In the movie, they are literally just trees that are walking around. Don’t get me wrong, they did a great job with the centaurs and animals, but I just don’t understand why they couldn’t do that in the movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3. One of the reasons that I liked the first one so much was that there was absolutely no romance!!!!!!! This one, however, is a different story. There is nothing like that in any of the books, and I just don’t see why they had to put that in there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4. I have said a lot of negative stuff so far, so don’t think that I absolutely hated it…….. I thought that the creatures were much better that the last one. 5. The night battle was very cool, I just think that they stretched out the longer one too much. 6. The River Dude was cool, and the part where Reepicheep comes in is funny, too! 7. I liked that Susan was apart of the battles; I think it really added to her character. 8. Peter was a little too resentful, which I didn’t like very much. I just don’t see why he was so rude to Caspian. I mean, I understand that they were sort of competing, but do they have to make it that SERIOUS!?!?!!??!!! 9. Lucy, well, she has grown up considerably since the last one, and she takes a big part, so I really enjoyed that. 10. Edmund has sort of grown up, too, and is more like Peter. 11. You can tell that the people who made the movie studied the book extremely well, there are some lines in the movie that are *unbelievably*similar! On a scale of 1-10, I rate it 9 and 90 hundredths! I liked most of it, it just has a few issues. Overall, I loved it! |

The Worst Mistake You Will Ever Make

The worst mistake you will ever make is……………………………………… What do you think? Is it flunking a grade? Doing drugs? Smoking? You may have different opinion, but mine is….. (drumroll please) Getting one of the following for yourself (if you are my age) or buying one for your child. Here is the list: A: Wii, Gameboy, Nintendo DS, Playstation, Gamecube, or anything else that fits into that category.Yes, these video games and such are stealing you or your child’s childhood! They make them so realistic these days, it’s no wonder that kids love them! Television and movies are included in that category, too. If you were to compare my schedule as a homeschooler with an average public-school-going-TV-watching-video-game-playing-kid, you would see a difference. Here we go:

Me:

1. Wake up

2. Do a lesson of math

3. Breakfast

4. Writing

5. Check my email

6. More math

7. Blog

8. Lunch

9. Spend time with my sisters

10. Have a friend over (sometimes on Thursdays and sometimes Fridays)

11. Spend some time outside, sometimes with my neighbor

12. Dinner

13. Spend more time with my family

14. Read in bed

15. Talk with my sister

16. Go to sleep

17. Do it again!

And now here is your average kid’s schedule:

1. Wake up

2. Pack or check their backpack

3. Quick Breakfast

4. Mom or Dad drives them to school or they catch the bus

5. Have a long morning (I don’t know the details)

6. Lunch

7. Recess ( This is somewhere around this time, it’s different for every grade)

8. Work on whatever until dismissal

9. Go home (Whether they bike, walk, ride the bus, or their parents pick them up)

10. Play on the Wii, gameboy, Playstation…..

11. Go outside for a little while

12. Dinner

13. Homework

14. Computer Time (For some)

15. Pack up their backpack for tomorrow

16. Go to sleep

17. Do it again! Now, I am not saying that this applys to everyone, or that everyone who has a DS or gameboy will spend HOURS on it. This is just my opinion. Also, a lot of homeschoolers have gameboys and stuff like that, so don’t feel guilty if you have one; that is if you use it rationally.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday

Hi everyone! How was your Thanksgiving and Black Friday? Mine was great. On Thanksgiving Day, my Grandma, uncle, and cousin came for dinner. My aunt and other cousins were in Florida, But my oldest cousin has basketball, so him and my uncle were staying home. On the day after (Black Friday) we went to see my other Grandma and help her decorate her new apartment in San Antonio. We brought her a tiny tabletop Christmas tree, ornaments, and while we were there, my dad went out to look for a small couch for the apartment. Fifteen thousand phone calls later, he shows up in the lobby with a loveseat “So pretty I’d buy it from you” ( he said). He also had wandered into the music store next door going in looking for a guitar string for one of his two acoustic guitars and came out with that, an electric guitar, a case for the aforesaid, AND an amplifier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And then, on the way home from SA, we wanted to go to the trail of lights in south Austin, and all I had was a jean jacket that was to small!!!!!!!!!! So we stopped at Target and I got a - can you believe it - $ 3.60 total, very cute, sweatshirt!!!!!!!!! Then, we were dissapointed when we found that the trail of lights does not start until December 9. So don’t try to go until then! Today when I woke up, my dad had set up and put on lights on the Christmas tree! We decorated it before breakfast. Then we went to return a few things at Target and a few other places. Now that Thanksgiving is over, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I love Apples!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Apple

I really enjoy eating apples. They feel so smooth and lumpy. I love the way they they smell and sound when you bite into one. It is a sharp, crunchy, crackly sound. Apples are generally red or greenon the outside and yellowish green on the inside. They taste, well, yummy, juicy, good, sweet, crunchy, and tangy. I love apples! :):):):):):D:D:D:D:D B-) B-) B-)

I Got a Hermit Crab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Readers, yes, it’s true, I got a Hermie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!! :)):):):):):)

His shell is orange with Pooh Bear on it. His Full title is Herbert Aransas the Second, but I call him ” Herbie” for short. He is Herbert Aransas the Second because the first one I had I bought dead, ( I obviously didn’t know that then!) so then I went and exchanged it, and kept the name. The condo we stayed in was awesome, it was just about 100 yards from the beach!!!!!!!!!!

On the way back, we stopped and went out to lunch/dinner with my Grandma in San Antonio. All in all, it was a very Fun vacation, and guess what? Next Saturday, I am going to my favorite band, The Newsboys, concert. I’ll have to ask my dad if I can put a small clip of one of their songs, Shine, on here. :):):):):))):):):):):):):):):):):)))
