The Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell is a descriptive survival story about a twelve-year-old girl who survives on an island alone for 18 years. For the first twelve years of her life she is a part of an indian tribe. But when the tribe leaves the island, they leave her behind. In the 18 years that follow, she builds a house, gathers food, goes fishing, gets two pet birds, gets a dog, and fights her enemies, the wild dogs. When she finally gets rescued, she finds out that the rest of her tribe was killed in a storm at sea.
I rate this book 8 out of 10, because it is a narrative book, and I tend to get a little annoyed by that. I recommend this book reading silently ages 10 and up and for reading aloud ages 9 and up.:) :) :):):):):):)):)))))))))

Ginger Pye by Eleanor Estes is a funny book about a family and their dog. When Jerry Pye gets a puppy, whom they name Ginger, almost everyone enjoys him. Almost everyone. Jerry wasn’t the only one who wanted Ginger. Someone else wanted him just as much as Jerry, so when this “someone” finds out that Jerry got Ginger, he steals Ginger! The only clue Jerry and his sister, Rachel, have is that the thief has a mustard yellow hat. Because it is a man’s hat, Rachel and Jerry assume that this dog-coveting person is a man. Thus they are thrown completely off track. Since Ginger is growing all the long time that they are looking for him, Rachel and Jerry don’t recognize him at first when they find him.
I rate this book 10 out of 10 because it is one of the best books that I have ever read, and I have read a lot of books! I recommend this book for anyone able to read for reading silently and for people 6 and up for reading aloud. If you read this book and like it, you should read Pinky Pye, which is the next Eleanor Estes book. I like both books a lot!!!!!!!!:) :) :)!!!!!!!!!!:):):) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:):):):):)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:):) :):)!!!

Adam of the Road by Elizabeth J. Gray is a heartwarming story about an eleven-year-old boy in the medieval times and his search for his missing father and dog. Adams father is a minstrel who plays the viol and tells tales of adventures, noblemen, and friendship. Likewise, Adam travels with him, plays the harp, and sings. Adam leaves school and begins travelling with his father, “Roger” when he is eleven. Soon after they start out, Adam’s dog, Nick, is stolen, and, while they are looking for him, Adam and Roger get separated. Adam continues looking for Nick with Roger added to his list. I won’t tell you the rest, except that it takes Adam a long time to find his father and dog.
I rate this book 9 out of 10 because I like every thing about the book except the time period, which I have a few problems with. I recommend this book for reading aloud to any one 6 and up and to read silently ages 9 and up. I loved this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
